Save The Date For A Toast To Remember

The Alzheimer’s Association - Greater Illinois Chapter will host A Toast To Remember, the annual wine and beer tasting event, on Thursday, February 18 at the spectacular Chicago Cultural Center.

“In it’s eighth year, A Toast to Remember will feature a wonderful variety of wine, beer and mouthwatering hors d’ oeuvres inspired by the spirit of Mardi Gras,” said Cara Corbett, event specialist for the Chapter. “In addition to the grand food and beverage options available guests will be invited to participate in an exciting silent auction and raffle. A Toast to Remember 2010 will also feature strolling entertainment and back by popular demand will be the Premier Wine Tasting Lounge available beginning at 5:00 p.m.”

Care Navigation Services May be Covered by Your Insurance

The Greater Illinois Chapter is pleased to announce that we can now bill Care Navigation services, under the mental health benefits of some insurance plans. Care Navigators, who are master’s level, licensed social workers meet with clients individually or as a family unit, to address their primary concerns regarding issues surrounding memory loss.

Relaxed, outgoing people may be less likely to get Alzheimer’s, according to researchers at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.

Study author Hui-Xin Wang of the Karolinska Institute and his colleagues questioned 506 older people about their personality traits and lifestyle, to measure their sociability and disposition to stress
