COMING
SOON: ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION PROFESSIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE
In response to an increased need for high-quality professional education
opportunities, the Greater Illinois Chapter is establishing an Alzheimer’s
Association Professional Training Institute.
“The Alzheimer’s Association is well known as a premier source of education and information for family members and the community at large,” said Melanie Chavin, Vice President of Program Services. “We want the Association to be positioned as the premier source of education and information for professionals as well.”
The Greater Illinois Chapter has long offered conferences, seminars and workshops for professionals, which have typically been well-received. The Professional Training Institute would offer a menu of training and education options on a consistent basis. “Professionals looking for opportunities for continuing education want to find the courses they need, when they need them, and in the format that works best for them,” said Chavin. “This means in addition to traditional workshop or seminar courses, we need to begin looking into self-study options like CD-ROM or online courses.”
A Director will be hired by November, 2004, and the goal is to have the first courses available in late spring or early summer of 2005. For more information, contact Melanie Chavin at 847-933-2413 or via e-mail at melanie.chavin@alz.org.
