Hearty Thanks to All Memory Walk Participants

Greetings, On behalf of all Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter staff and volunteers, thanks to you and all of the 7,250 participants in our 10 Memory Walks this fall for helping us raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and our Chapter programs and services.

We accomplished a lot in the span of about five weekends in September and October … we walked many many miles through scenic parks (and in all kinds of fall weather) … we had more than 378 teams of family members, friends, co-workers, and club members … we shared stories and photos of loved ones in whose memory we were walking … we met new friends and got to thank sponsors for their support.

Together we also raised more than $925,000 and are still working toward our $1 million goal as donations continue to arrive daily.

Our support from all Memory Walk participants has never been greater, but so has the need for information, programs and services.  Today, more than half a million Illinoisans are living with Alzheimer’s (210,000 people with the disease, plus family members and caregivers).  One in 10 of us is an Alzheimer caregiver and one in three of us knows someone with the disease.

So, thank you, again, for your support and enthusiasm – together we are taking steps toward our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s!

Sincerely,

Lisa Lee, Associate Director, Special Events
Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter
