Legendary Chicago White Sox Player, Ron Kittle, to Attend Rundown Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter is pleased to announce former Chicago White Sox player Ron Kittle will attend Rundown Alzheimer’s on Tuesday, July 28 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. The entire event runs from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Severe Weather, Do You Have an Alzheimer’s Action Plan?

Recent severe weather conditions in Illinois have prompted the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter to remind the public that loved ones with dementia will need extra help in the event of a weather related emergency.

Weather conditions during the summer months in Illinois can range from tornados, severe thunderstorms, flooding and many other extremes. All of these situations can significantly add to stress levels and cause confusion for people with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

Team Care: Join Us in Our Quest For a Million

Team CARE (Conquering Alzheimer’s Running Endeavor) is the Alzheimer’s Association running team for the annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the Rock ‘N’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon. Team CARE will be returning as an eighth year Partner Charity for the 2009 Bank of America Chicago Marathon as well as a Silver level sponsor of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon.

Raising Funds to Find a Cure

Since 1989 The Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter has been on the MOVE to end Alzheimer’s. Even though Chapters have merged and names have changed the Chicago Memory Walk was apart of the original nine chapters that hosted Memory Walks throughout the country. Since 1989 the Chapter has grown to host thirteen Memory Walks around the state of Illinois. Memory Walk is an integral part of what helps the Greater Illinois Chapter remain the leader in Alzheimer’s based support services.

2009 Purple-tini Fundraiser

For the past two years volunteers in Elmhurst Illinois have hosted Purple-tini, a fundraiser held to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter programs and services.

This year, the event will be held, Saturday, July 18, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fitz’s Lanes, 119 North York St. This fun event features entertainment by Dueling Pianos, an open bar (beer, wine, well drinks only), and appetizers. Admission is $30.

Support Group Facilitator Training

Do you want to make a difference in the life of someone affected by Alzheimer’s disease? The Greater Illinois Chapter is offering several training sessions for support group facilitators. Support Group Facilitator Training participants are expected to have a solid understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders before attending this training. The Alzheimer’s Association - Greater Illinois Chapter’s Professional Training Institute offers in-person and online courses to help you meet this requirement.
