Rundown Alzheimer’s: A Party at U.S. Cellular Field

On Tuesday, July 28 the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter will take over the U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, for Rundown Alzheimer’s. In its first year this event will feature a 2.5 mile fun run throughout the stadium, raffle prizes and a celebratory concert featuring Elevation, Chicago’s U2 cover band! Rundown Alzheimer’s is your opportunity to make your childhood dreams come true by stepping onto a major league baseball field without getting arrested!

Updated Warning Signs Help with Early Detection

It may be difficult to know the difference between age-related changes and the first signs of Alzheimer’s. As part of its public education effort, the Alzheimer's Association has worked with a wide range group of experts to update its 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's to make them more current and user-friendly. The comprehensive review process included feedback from health professionals, clinicians, scientists and people with dementia.

Last Chance to Sign Up for the Family Forums
|
|
Sign up today for the inaugural Alzheimer’s Association: Family Forums. On two consecutive Saturdays in June the Greater Illinois Chapter will host a Family Forum to help all those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The first forum will take place on Saturday, June 6 at North Central College Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville. The second forum will take place on Saturday, June 13 at Harper College Wojcik Conference Center in Palatine.

New Workshop for Family Caregivers!

Beginning in July the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter will be launching their new program for family Caregivers. The Caregiver Workshop: Building Confidence in Caregiving is a new program intended to help those facing the daunting task of caring for someone with memory loss navigate their journey.

Ride to Remember
|

On Saturday, June 20 Brian & Jennifer Black are hosting the first ever motorcycle Ride to Remember - a poker run to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at JimeZ’s Sports Bar & Grill, 11677 Main Street, Roscoe, Illinois 61073 and the ride starts at 10:00 a.m.
Ride to Remember will feature a 50/50 raffle, silent auction and giveaways! The cost is $20 per bike with all proceeds supporting life saving research, programs and services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association. June is the Wedding Month

On the hit ABC show "Grey's Anatomy," characters Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) are engaged. Although their big day didn’t happen during this season…maybe it still will.
Their wedding-planning bridesmaid, Izzie (Katherine Heigl) created a wedding Web site for family, friends and fans of the show to make donations to the couple's favorite charities in lieu of gifts. The Alzheimer's Association was featured as one of these charities.

Board Game Helps Families Create Memories

Making Memories Together® is an award-winning, non-competitive board game for people with major memory disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
The game does not help symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, but it does enhance the quality of life for the affected individual by making visits with family and friends more comfortable and enjoyable.
