New Name, Same Purpose
We are officially launching our new signature event, Walk to End Alzheimer’s™! The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Since 1989, we’ve mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®; now, we’re continuing to lead the way with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s - the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will take place throughout the state of Illinois in September and October 2011.

What is an Early Stage Support Group?
An early stage support group is a gathering of people diagnosed with memory loss, who want to meet and talk with others with the diagnosis. In this group you can share ideas on living with the disease, share coping skills, and make new friends. Care partners, who are typically family members, spouses or partners but can also be friends, participate in a separate simultaneous group.

May is Forget-Me-Not Month
The Alzheimer’s Association - Greater Illinois Chapter is organizing the Forget-Me-Not Point of Purchase Program with the help of businesses across Illinois. Our Point of Purchase Program runs during the entire month of May, and is a free and easy way for businesses small and large to help raise money for much needed programs and services for people affected by Alzheimer’s disease, their families, and caregivers. In this Program, employees offer customers the opportunity to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association as they check out at the register.
We would like to thank this year's participating businesses for showing their support for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, and for leading the way in their community.
