Caregiver Spotlight: Mike and Donna Fowler

November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregiver Month. To honor this month and the more than a half-million Alzheimer’s Caregivers in Illinois we wanted to share Mike and Donna Fowler’s moving story about their battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Forty years ago, Donna and Mike were friends and teammates on a bowling league. Five years later, they were married, and Mike never imagined the friendship they had would turn into thirty-five years together as husband and wife. Describing Donna as his “true love,” Mike cannot fathom the thought of being without Donna every day.

Community Representatives Needed!

The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter is currently recruiting Alzheimer’s Association Community Representatives (AACR). AACRs assist the Alzheimer’s Association in meeting community needs by delivering brief education programs, representing the Alzheimer’s Association at health fairs and other community events and speaking to community groups about the mission, programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Association. All AACRs will be properly trained by expert staff of the Alzheimer’s Association. To learn more contact your local office today.
