Save-the-Date - Third AnnualFamily Caregiver Conference:
Support for Families Living with Memory Loss” November 12

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter invites Alzheimer caregivers to the Third Annual Family Conference on Saturday, November 12, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for families who are living with Alzheimer’s disease to discover the tremendous resources available to them, to learn about the advances in Alzheimer research and ways to cope with many aspects of this disease,” said Wendy Miller, an Alzheimer’s Association volunteer and founder of the Marcy and Mike Raftenberg Fund that provides grant funding for the conference.  “There’s a genuine feeling among participants that they’re not alone, that there are others out there to share a story with and who will share stories with you.”

The Marcy and Mike Raftenberg Fund was established by Glen and Wendy Miller in honor and memory of Wendy’s parents and other couples who cope with Alzheimer’s.  Marcy Raftenberg was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 70 and was cared for by her husband.  The couple’s children say they lost two family members to Alzheimer’s when Marcy died in October 2002 at age 84 and when Mike died five months later.

The conference fee is $15.00 (early bird rate) and includes a Resource Fair, continental breakfast and lunch, and free parking.  The Hyatt Regency O’Hare also is accessible by public transportation.  For more information call 847.933.2413 or visit
